Fun fact about the Beast

The Beast under construction in 1978.
The design and construction of the legendary Beast roller coaster was done by Kings Island construction, maintenance and engineering department. This is highly unusual -- most roller coasters are designed and built by firms that specialize in this.

New Kid takes on new ride

Beat the heat at Boomerang Bay

Cincinnati native Justin Margeson challenges the waves on the Pipeline Paradise in Boomerang Bay at Kings Island on Wednesday. The 15-acre water park features more than 50 water activities including 30 water slides, tropical lagoons, rushing rivers, surfable waves, 36,000 square-foot wave pool, three family activity areas and careening waterfalls surrounded by lush landscaping. Boomerang Bay is included free with Kings Island park admission.

Flashback: Totally 80's now playing

Flashback: Totally 80's is back by popular demand! Get in the groove and travel back to the days when it was hip to be square! Our singers and dancers pay tribute to leg warmers, mullets, Rubik's Cube and the songs that defined a decade in this music revue. The 25-minute show takes place in the International Showplace Theatre. Show times are 2:00, 3:00, 5:00, 6:00 daily (except Tuesdays).

Nat and Alex Wolff, stars of TV series The Nakes Brothers Band, in concert August 18 at Kings Island

Nat and Alex Wolff, stars of the immensely popular television series on Nickelodeon titled after their band, The Naked Brothers Band, will be in concert August 18 at Kings Island as part of their summer tour.

The concert was originally booked for the same date at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, but due to demand, has been moved to the Timberwolf Amphitheatre at Kings Island.

Nat, 14, and Alex Wolff, 12, are promoting their lastest album, “I Don’t Want to Go to School,” which was released in April. They will also be performing songs from their 2008 self-titled debut album.

The Naked Brothers series is currently in its third season and depicts the life and struggle of a world famous rock band. The band members of the group include real friends of the duo from their pre-school days. Their father in the series is played by their real-life dad, Michael Wolff.

“Alex and I are excited to be coming to Kings Island this summer,” Nat Wolff said. “We’re looking forward to putting on a great show for our fans and getting on some of those cool rides. We can’t wait to ride Diamondback!”

The Naked Brothers concert at Kings Island is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.

Tickets, which include all day admission to Kings Island and the Naked Brothers concert, are $39.99 and can be purchased online at www.visitkingsisland.com. Tickets are just $9.99 for Kings Island season passholders.

Nik Wallenda to take chills and thrills to new heights August 16 at Kings Island

Thirty-five years ago the late, great legendary high-wire acrobat Karl Wallenda set a world record at Kings Island. Last year, Rick Wallenda, grandson of Karl Wallenda, surpassed his grandfather’s famous feat with a world-record skywalk. This year another Wallenda high-wire walk will take place at Kings Island August 16, as Nik Wallenda, a grandson of Karl Wallenda, will take thrills and chills to new heights with a high-wire walk that will be more amazing than the two before!

A seventh generation member of the world famous Wallenda family of daredevils, Nik has been walking the wire since he was just 4 years old. After his first professional walk at age 13, Wallenda has become renowned for his innovative feats of daring. Grandson of Karl Wallenda, founder of the The Flying Wallendas, Nik is known for performing his death-defying stunts without a safety net. He holds the Guinness Book of Records world record for longest and highest bicycle ride on a highwire.

You have seen him on the hit TV shows “Inked” and “Tattoo Highway”. Now, legendary tattoo artist Thomas Pendleton is coming to Kings Island Saturday, June 27.

Who-Dey think is gonna ride Diamondback?

Bengals safety Roy Williams (front seat on the left) took a ride on the new Diamondback roller coaster Tuesday at Kings Island. Williams, known as one of the hardest hitters in the NFL, made four Pro Bowl appearances in his seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys prior to signing with the Bengals in March.

Entertainment news

The County Line makes its 2009 season debut today in the Festhaus. This popular show features the songs of all your favorite country stars including Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Rascal Flatts. Show times are 11:30, 12:30, 2:00 and 3:00.

Endless Summer on Ice has a dress rehearsal today at 3:30 in the Kings Island Theater that will be open to the public.

Wild Thornberry's River Adventure popular Kings Island attraction

Nearly 42 million guests have ridden the Wild Thornberry's River Adventure since the ride opened with the park as the Kings Mills Log Flume in 1972. After a one-year sabbatical for refurbishing, the ride re-opened in 2001 under it's current name. The ride operated from 1968 to 1971 at Coney Island.
